Meet Lisa Pawlenko, a dedicated Regis employee who has been providing exceptional care since June 2009. Lisa has worked in various roles within Regis, starting in the kitchen and cleaning departments at Regis Wynnum before transitioning to an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) role and then to a Lifestyle Assistant position in 2011. Lisa’s exceptional skills and dedication led to her becoming the Lifestyle Coordinator for Regis Birkdale, where she remained for six years. In the last three years, Lisa has been assisting the Sandgate Musgrave Lifestyle team. 

What attracted Lisa to work in the aged care sector was her desire to assist the elderly and improve their quality of life. Lisa always emphasises that residents are individuals with their own unique story, and they deserve to be treated with respect and kindness. 

Lisa’s typical day in her role involves leading the morning meeting with her team, which is a crucial aspect of her role. The morning meeting ensures that her team is well-equipped for the day’s activities, and it also provides an opportunity to address concerns and ideas acts as an open space to discuss ideas and innovations. 

Lisa shares that she finds great satisfaction in seeing the residents enjoy their daily lives, and she feels privileged to be a part of their lives. She considers herself to be like family to the residents, and she takes her responsibility to keep them connected to the community seriously. 

For those who are considering a career in aged care, Lisa’s advice is simple: do it! Lisa believes that working in aged care is a rewarding and fulfilling career that will make you a better person. Her experiences with the elderly have given her a deep appreciation for life and all that it has to offer.
