Aged Care Employee Day is a time to recognise and celebrate the remarkable efforts of dedicated caregivers who enrich the lives of elderly individuals in aged care. Among these compassionate professionals is Chen Rudas, Registered Nurse (RN) at Regis Port Macquarie, whose unwavering commitment to her role embodies the true spirit of this special day.
Chen began with Regis in October 2022 when her personal connection to caring for her grandparents ignited a passion for working with the elderly. Her commitment to treating every resident as if they were a member of her own family sets her apart as a beacon of compassion in the aged care profession.
As an RN, Chen’s daily routine is dynamic and fulfilling. Her role involves supervising and leading her team on the floor, ensuring that the unique needs of each resident are met with utmost care and attention. Effective communication with fellow caregivers is paramount to Chen, as she says it minimises errors and ensures the highest level of service for the residents.
Chen said she feels at completely comfortable working with older people.
“I feel like it’s my own family circle,” she said. “I treat residents as if they are in my own home environment.”
Chen’s advice for those considering a career in aged care: “Aged care can be challenging but it’s manageable. Just give all your love and care, it’s priceless when you can make a difference in the lives of elderly people.”
Away from work, Chen loves being outdoors and sightseeing, as well as shopping, motorbike riding, and eating out with family and friends.
