Meet Regan, the Assistant Manager at Regis Port Coogee in Perth, who has been with the Regis community since December 2021. Before this role, Regan has worked in various roles in the food and hospitality industry, including Chef Manager and Catering Manager roles in various aged care residences.
When asked about what attracted him to work in the aged care sector, Regan explains that it is the opportunity to make a positive difference in someone’s life.
“It’s really heart-warming to be in somebody’s life and be able to help make a positive difference to not only their day, but their overall quality of life,” he says.
This sentiment is reflected in Regan’s approach to his work, as he strives to support the residents, as well as his colleagues, each and every day.

“Elderly people are amazing, if you’re a compassionate person, you can listen to these stories attentively and take lessons from them,” he says.
He also notes that just sitting and listening to older people can make them feel better, especially for those in aged care residences who may not have many visitors.
For those interested in pursuing a career in aged care, Regan advises that aged care workers have flexibility in their work environment and can work from their client’s home or in residential aged care.
